Will you take the risk with me?


A Project risk management, is one area that is often neglected by project team members. Being a typical Filipino that we used to, we are always fond of practicing “bahala na “/come what may attitude, where we live everything by chances. This attitude however needs to be set aside in project management since skipping risk analysis and unpreparedness can cause a serious threat of project failure that would waste money, time, cost, efforts and resources. In starting a project, be it big or small, warrants not only a careful analysis of its outcomes but also to its associated risks.


Tough boss or nice boss? How to be a nice Boss and still be in charge - InsperityOne of the qualities that a project manager should have are being proactive, skillful and meticulously overseeing, leading, assessing and managing risk throughout the duration of a given project, hence it is not an easy task. Every member of the team should also do their job. So, if I were a project manager, and the team members doesn't put value to risk management, a proper approach and communication will be done, wherein a thorough orientation of the project, awareness of possible risk and its outcome or benefits will be clearly defined and able to elicit factors that causes resistance to analyze risk. Another approach will be the creation of risk management team to enhance awareness and to place a value on the project’s activities such as procuring, communicating, controlling quality and staffing among others. Though a risk maybe uncertain and unpredicted, preparedness by providing options or contingency plans should always be one of the key components to lessen its effect. 


Just like in life, in everything we do , we should remember that there is always a risk that goes with it.  But the willingness to take that risks may open its way to a probability of success. So if the team members take the chance, they will never know how perfect something could turn out to be if  they are willing to take the risk.
